SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Prominent members of Kolkata's culinary and lifestyle community attended the joyous opening of Bougainvillaea Café & Bistro, the much-awaited new café close to South City Mall. Long-time friends and co-owners Sumona Basu and Somnath Sarkar came up with the idea for the café. As a co-owner of the well-liked Calcutta Nostalgia restaurant, Sumona

Basu contributes her extensive knowledge of Kolkata's culinary customs. Together, Sumona and Somnath have designed an area that embodies their individual narratives; it is called after a flower that blooms tenaciously, unashamedly, and according to its own terms. The area has a sweeping mural of the famous vine as its focal point, actual bougainvillaea plants framing the

entryway, and realistic floral decorations within. Every nook becomes a cosy haven thanks to the warm lighting. Sumona and Somnath explained that the term originates from a place of personal narratives—aspects of their own life mirrored in a plant that thrives despite all obstacles. Bougainvillaea Café & Bistro is open every day from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM and is situated close to South City Mall in Kolkata.
