News Desk, News Nation 360: The country’s largest public sector Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has launched CyRIS, a state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence. A unified platform bringing together cyber policy, education, innovation, threat intelligence and cyber defence capabilities. The Centre was officially inaugurated by Sanjay Lohiya, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS); SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty and senior bank officials. Based on three pillars - THINK, INNOVATE and DEFEND - the Centre will facilitate the development of effective policies and regulations in cyberspace (THINK), conduct translational research and develop innovative products in line with global benchmarks (INNOVATE), and strengthen cyber defences and threat intelligence (DEFEND). This includes strengthening cyber defences in key areas such as AI security, quantum-safe cryptography, penetration testing, digital forensics and fraud analytics. To support this, the Bank also conducts its own audits and has invested heavily in the upskilling of its workforce. In FY 2025-26, 1.81 lakh employees completed mandatory cyber e-learning. The Centre will act as an active intelligence hub that brings together regulators, banks, fintechs and academia. This will provide an industry-wide approach to ensure robust cyber resilience throughout India’s digital financial landscape, said Chairman Setty and Secretary Lohiya.
