News Desk, News Nation 360 : The International Conference and Exhibition on Underground Mining Mechanisation and Automation, or UMMEED 2025, reaffirmed its position as a leading forum for promoting safe, sustainable, and technologically advanced mining practices on its second day. The proceedings were held in the august presence of Ujjwal Tah, DGMS, Satish Jha, CMD, ECL & CMD, CMPDIL (Additional Charge), Brajesh Kumar Tripathy, CVO, CIL, Dr B. Veera Reddy, Advisor, Ministry of Coal, Ex CMD ECL A Kalam, Subrato Chakravarty and Samarjit Chakraborty, Md. Anzar Alam, Director (Finance), ECL, Niladri Roy, Director (Technical/OP), ECL, Girish Gopinathan Nair, Director (Technical/P&P), ECL, senior officials from Directorate General of Mines Safety, Eastern Coalfields Limited, various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited, along with industry stalwarts, academicians from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, former CMDs and Directors of CIL subsidiaries, Corporate JCC Members, Corporate Safety Board Members, Heads of Departments and employees of ECL. Dr B. Veera Reddy, Advisor, Ministry of Coal, gave a thoughtful and focused keynote talk on "Learning from the Past" as the technical sessions came to an end. The workshop reaffirmed the significance of organisational learning in determining the mining industry's future course by drawing on extensive institutional experience. The two-day international event was successfully concluded with a sombre and elegant Valedictory Session, during which Shri Bhartendu Kumar, General Manager (Excavation/IAD), ECL, delivered a vote of gratitude. In addition to reflecting on the conference's overall insights and results, the session offered heartfelt thanks to the eminent speakers, specialists, partners, and attendees whose contributions made it possible.
