News Desk, News Nation 360 : Breast cancer is still the most frequent cancer among women in India, accounting for roughly 30% of all female cancers. In 2025, an estimated 2.3 lakh women nationally, including more than 15,000 in West Bengal, are expected to be newly diagnosed. Alarmingly, more than half of these instances appear at an advanced stage, and women in India are diagnosed about ten years younger than women in Western countries, typically during their peak years of employment and family life. In light of these realities, Desun Hospital has established a dedicated Breast Cancer Clinic focusing on Breast Conservation Surgery (BCS), a new approach to cancer treatment that preserves women's dignity and confidence. The clinic will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. One of the panellists, Dr Sreya Mallik, Consultant Medical Oncologist, Desun Hospital, stated that with targeted medicines, precision chemotherapy, and post-operative radiation, breast conservation has become a safe and effective option for many women. Their multidisciplinary tumour board guarantees that each patient receives an individualised plan according to their stage and condition. Reaffirming Desun’s vision, Sajal Dutta, Chairman & Managing Director, Desun Hospital, stated that Desun defines healing as science given with love. Their new Breast Cancer Clinic underscores their philosophy that every woman deserves more than simply survival; she also deserves dignity and hope.
