GoWB is Making Significant Investments in Building Infrastructure to Support Education

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The government of West Bengal has made significant investments in establishing the necessary facilities to advance education at the school level and beyond by establishing institutions and universities. Additionally, the government is making significant efforts to support digital education, which is producing beneficial results. The Assocham EY Knowledge study on AI as a catalyst for education delivery was released during the event. H.E. Dr. Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India, stated that there is a great deal of potential for cooperation between the UK and India in the area of education. According to estimates, the UK granted between 1.3 and 1.4 lakh Indian students visas last year. Manoj Joshi, the chairman of the Higher Education Council-East, Assocham, and Taranjit Singh, the chairman of the Assocham Eastern Region Development Council, both expressed their dedication to the education sector. Binod Kumar, Principal Secretary, School & Higher Education (Additional), West Bengal, stated that in the past 14-15 years if they observe what work the state government has been doing, then the school education budget in 2010-11 was Rs 829 crores, which has now reached Rs 10,260 crores in the 2024-25; for higher education it was Rs 1,724 crore which has raised to Rs 6,404 crore. The universities, which were merely 12 in 2010-11, now number 46 universities (15 private universities and 31 state universities); the higher education institutions have risen from 1,056 to 2,049, and they have increased 7,260 schools in 12-13 years and now the number of schools is 57,690. The gross enrollment ratio in the year 2010-11 was 13.24 lakhs, and now it is 27.22 lakhs. The gender parity was 42 per cent, and now it has reached 50 per cent; hence, they are extremely happy as there are equal numbers of boys and girls in the educational field.
