The company has included sustainability as a fundamental operational discipline throughout its global portfolio of 628 hotels under the direction of Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President-Human Resources. IHCL has accomplished notable milestones in resource efficiency since 2016, such as a 35% decrease in emissions intensity and a 46% decrease in waste-to-landfill intensity. As of right now, 41% of the company's energy comes from renewable sources, and it is gradually approaching its 2030 target of 50%. Through programs like in-house water bottling (84 plants) and wastewater recycling (53%), IHCL continues to lead the "lean luxe" and luxury segments with 100 EarthCheck-certified hotels and the total eradication of single-use plastics. As a result of these efforts, Taj has been named the World's Strongest Hotel Brand 2025, confirming IHCL's standing as a trailblazer in ethical travel and sustainable expansion within the Tata Group's heritage.
