News Desk, News Nation 360: With the acquisition of a strategic investment in Kolkata-based Abha Surgy Healthcare Private Limited, which runs the Abha Surgy Centre, Indira IVF Hospital Limited has significantly expanded its network of fertility services in Eastern India. This collaboration, which was announced on April 16, 2026, combines the technological scope and nationwide reach of Indira IVF with the clinical depth of Abha Surgy Centre, which was founded by Dr Bani Kumar Mitra, a pioneer with over 35 years of experience. West Bengal's total fertility rate (TFR) has fallen to 1.3, the lowest urban and second-lowest rural rate in India, well below the replacement norm of 2.1. This change coincides with a large demographic transition in the state. The alliance seeks to normalise accessible, evidence-based reproductive care, according to Dr Kshitiz Murdia, CEO of Indira IVF, while Surabhi Mitra of Abha Surgy Centre emphasised the shared dedication to patient-centred, compassionate care. Beyond clinical growth, the collaboration will keep funding regional programs like the Anyatama Awards, which honour women's achievements in a variety of sectors and promote a comprehensive approach to reproductive health and social development in the area.
