SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Sunrise Spices, one of ITC Ltd.'s leading spice brands in the East, has announced its flagship CSR initiative, the Sunrise Swasthya Pradesh Program, a large-scale community outreach campaign aimed at creating safer, healthier communities across India by raising awareness about food adulteration and strengthening food safety practices. The program, developed in conjunction with the NGO Rajabazar Education and Awareness Development Society (READS), will encompass West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and Andhra Pradesh, directly addressing millions of homes and food handlers. Swasthya Pradesh Program contains two major initiatives for ensuring food safety at both the community and household levels. One focuses on training cooks, caterers, and street food vendors, catering to millions in weddings, fairs, and festivals with specialised FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification), specifically aligned with FSSAI. Certification adds a note of professionalism among food handlers as it can facilitate safer food consumption and affect millions of consumers. The second initiative is aimed at empowering women at the grassroots level in 10 districts of West Bengal to fight against food adulteration by awareness creation. The program empowers women with FSSAI’s DART booklet for the Detection of Adulteration by Rapid Test, IEC materials on label reading, and adulteration testing kits that allow them to identify unsafe food and promote safer alternatives. Community activities include health camps, local market events, and other activities, through which women are motivated to become the torchbearers for food safety within their communities. Their work has led to healthier households and built greater public trust in food safety standards. Speaking at the launch, Piyush Mishra, Business Head, ITC Spices, stated that Sunrise has been a trusted name in Indian kitchens for decades. The Swasthya Pradesh Program demonstrates its dedication to food safety, hygiene, and health. This campaign goes beyond awareness by providing knowledge and skills to caterers, food vendors, and women, transforming everyday practices and protecting millions' health.
