News Desk, News Nation 360 : A fresh scholarly work in the area of philosophy, "Extended Knowledge & Social Epistemology" by Dr Varbi Roy, Associate Professor, Philosophy, was launched recently at Scottish Church College. This launch was jointly organised with the Bhaktivedanta Research Centre (BRC). Through this insightful investigation of a very much neglected but contemporary area, Dr Roy throws critical insight into the development of epistemological ideas.

She places social epistemology in the context of more recent work within it. The book targets especially students, researchers, and philosophers in India. In this arena, applied aspects of epistemology, including social epistemology, have not been tapped so far. Being an instructor in Scottish Church College, a NAAC Grade 'A' college, Dr Roy's work contributes to the college's tradition of serious scholarship and intellectual inquiry that dates back long ago. Scottish Church College possesses a rich academic tradition. Its notable alumni are Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananda, and A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. "Extended Knowledge & Social Epistemology" is a must-read for students, academics, and anyone concerned with the social aspects of knowledge. Above all, the book bridges essential gaps in epistemological scholarship. It emphasises the strong agency of social institutions, collective agents, and communities in determining the epistemic environment. Dr Madhumanjari Mandal, Principal of Scottish Church College, expressed that the Bhaktivedanta Research Centre (BRC), an ISO-certified top institute with its headquarters in Kolkata and branches throughout India and beyond that also offers Master's and PhD programs in philosophy, provided funding for this study. The BRC, a preeminent academic organisation dedicated to conserving, studying, and sharing India's rich philosophical, cultural, and intellectual legacy, provided funding for Dr Roy's work, which helped the book get published.
