Lions & Leo District 322B1's Blood Donation Drive Provides Children With Thalassaemia With Lifeline Support

News Desk, News Nation 360: At the organization's dedicated Thalassaemia Unit and Blood Center in Kolkata, Lions & Leo District 322B1 successfully organised a specialised Blood Donation Camp under its iconic "We Serve" initiative, delivering vital life-saving resources to youngsters fighting thalassaemia. More than 150 members actively participated in the humanitarian drive, which marked the official start of the new Lions Club service year. Notable dignitaries such as Dr Pankaj Shrivastava (HOD, RN Tagore Hospital International Institute of Cardiac Sciences), Avijit Nandi Majumdar (Editor-in-Chief of ANM News and CEO of ANM Global Media Research), Manju Chamaria (District Governor, Lions International) and Indrani Chowdhary (Cabinet Secretary). Kailash Khandelwal, Chairperson of the Blood Center, emphasised the clinical urgency of the camp by revealing that 156 children in need of regular blood transfusions currently receive a vital lifeline from the specialised unit, including 10 critical patients who require daily fresh blood support. The group successfully raised community awareness of voluntary donation, mobilised essential regional blood supplies, and strengthened a robust, grassroots healthcare support system for vulnerable thalassaemia patients throughout the region through this focused health campaign.
