News Desk, News Nation 360 : "The 49th Kolkata International Book Fair 2026, described as the world's largest-attended Book Fair and acknowledged by IPA Geneva, is scheduled to take place from 22 January to 3 February 2026 at Boimela Prangan, Salt Lake City, Kolkata. Building on last year's turnout of around 2.7 million visitors & total book sales of ₹23 Crores, organisers pressed the point about the ever-swelling numbers of Book Lovers who have made the Book Fair a Landmark Cultural Event. In a national-level press meet organised at the Residence of Argentina in New Delhi, H.E. Mariano Agustin Caucino, Ambassador of Argentina to India, is to be the Guest of Honour of the inaugural ceremony of the Book Fair and is set to announce his country's plans in greater detail. Argentina to be featured as Theme Countries (with a special ‘Theme Country Argentina Day’ to be held on the 25th of January, 2026), the Book Fair will also dedicate attention to the literary & cultural contributions of the country beyond football, to mention names such as Victoria Ocampo, Borges, Cortázar, Roberto Arlt, & Bioy Casares. Like past years, IKBF 2026 will be fully digitalised to reach out to its devotees across the realms of India & the world, while the 29th of January is to be marked as Senior Citizens' Day. Leading Indian & international publishers like Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Hachette, Bloomsbury, Rupa, Pan Macmillan, Orient BlackSwan, Oxford University Press, Om Books International, Pearson, along with the UK, Germany, France, Russia, Spain, Peru, & Latin American countries, along with publishers from Indian states, will have special dedicated stands. There are special programs to be organised to commemorate ‘History of Bengal Cinema & Mahanayak’ to celebrate the birth centenary of Uttam Kumar (organised by Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya), an auditorium dedicated to Mahasweta Devi, & cultural programs to honor Dr. Bhupen Hazarika & Salil Chowdhury. While the 12th Kolkata Literature Festival, scheduled to be held on 24-25th of Jan 2026, is set to organise interactive session programs involving special guests & wind up the day's session by performing evening programs.
