News Desk, News Nation 360: To mark its historic 88th year, South Kolkata’s Tollygunge Santipally Puja Samity organised the 2026 Durga Puja with a social message of “MUKTI” (Freedom from Child Labour) as part of their ongoing campaign “Yes to Education, No to Child Labour”. The idol of Goddess Durga was conceptualised and sculpted by renowned artist Gobindo Giri. The installation of the mandap depicted the contrast between child workers and school-going children who enjoy their childhood. The event witnessed the presence of football legends Alvito D’Cunha and José Barreto. It also involved a 45-minute mimicry show by Shashikant Pedwal and a special performance by Crescendo (Team Devraj Ghoshal), as well as musical soirees by Amit Ganguly, Sudeshna and June Das. The event concluded with the committee reiterating its commitment to society on its nearly nine-decade-long journey of bringing together festivities and philanthropy.
