SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: Mobis India Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of Hyundai Mobis in India, concluded the West Bengal leg of its flagship program, “Accessibility & Freedom – Empowering Wheelchair Users with Mobility Assistive Devices,” with the distribution of customised assistive mobility devices to 32 beneficiaries in Kolkata. This takes the state’s tally to 60 recipients after distributing the mobility devices to 28 beneficiaries in Siliguri. The event organised at the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (Divyangjan) witnessed the participation of its Director Dr Lalit Narayanan, Deputy Director Sougata Banerjee, Assistant Director Dr Ameed Eqbal, and P&O In-charge Prakash Sahoo, along with Mobis India Foundation CSR executive Santosh Srivatav and Infant Roshina. The Kolkata event is part of an extensive accessibility program valued at ₹6.3 crore that will benefit 600 wheelchair users in eight states and union territories. The company has partnered with an assistive technology start-up, NeoMotion, incubated at IIT Madras, to implement this initiative, which focuses on providing tailored solutions to persons with locomotor disabilities. Unlike the traditional ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, the program offers a personalised intervention to each person based on their clinical assessment and body measurements. Each recipient will receive a custom-made NeoFly wheelchair and a motorised NeoBolt clip-on outdoor drive attachment to help them navigate different terrains to pursue higher education, employment, and lead an active and independent life.
