The Calcutta Chamber of Commerce's 195th Annual General Meeting Begins With a Session

News Desk, News Nation 360: The Inaugural Session of the 195th Annual General Meeting of West Bengal Trade Chamber, i.e., the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, was held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata, where policymakers and business leaders convened to discuss India’s engines of growth and West Bengal’s industrial renaissance. The Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker was Shri Jitin Prasada, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & IT, and the Guest of Honour was Vandana Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Industry, Commerce and Enterprises, Government of West Bengal. The nearly two-century-old trade chamber’s alignment with the Viksit Bharat @2047 roadmap was outlined, while welcoming delegates, the Chamber President Shri Anant Saharia and Senior Vice President Shri Annurag Jhunjhunwala spoke about Bengal’s strengths, from traditional industries like steel, engineering, tea, textiles, to potential in electronics, IT, logistics, and green energy. Minister Prasada stated that technology and trade pacts, including those concluded and being negotiated with the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Oman, and EFTA, will transform India into not just a consumption market but also a high-value manufacturing and technology partner fueled by internal demand.
