SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: World Water Day, the Hinduja Foundation, the charitable division of the Hinduja Group, declared that its flagship Jal Jeevan water stewardship program had effectively replenished over 5 trillion litres of groundwater and improved irrigation over 117,620 hectares of Indian farmland. The comprehensive initiative, which benefits 6 million people in 4,000 communities across 16 states, focuses on managing watersheds, restoring 20,000 open wells, and installing 4,000 rooftop rainwater collection devices to address water scarcity. The Hinduja Foundation's CEO, Raman Kalyanakrishnan, highlighted that by constructing sustainable infrastructure that enables communities to effectively manage resources, the effort directly links water security to rural livelihood security. Notable initiatives include a significant ecosystem restoration at the Holy Jhulelal Tirthdham in Kutch, Gujarat, which has lessened the effects of increasing sea levels, and the revitalisation of 267 springs in rural Uttarakhand. The foundation has strengthened its commitment to creating scalable, climate-resilient water solutions through ongoing multi-sectoral partnerships by restoring 125 lakes and 450 springs, which have improved household incomes and agricultural yields while also greatly reducing the domestic burden on women.
