News Desk, News Nation 360 : To emphasise the strategic and financial significance of indigenisation in India's defence sector, the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) brought together defence officials, legislators, business executives, and start-ups for the ICC Defence Start Up & Autonomous Systems Summit. At the summit, which included 18 defence and drone start-up stalls, more than 170 attendees participated, including senior officials from the Eastern Naval Command. On this occasion, a knowledge report called "Defence Production Powering Industrial Growth" was published, detailing the sector's multiplier effect on the creation of jobs and industrial growth. Additionally, a specialised B2B support desk was established to foster collaborations and attend to the operational needs of start-ups and MSMEs. MSMEs and start-ups are crucial to the sector's transformation, according to Cmde P.R. Hari, IN (Retd.), Chairman of the ICC National Expert Committee on Defence, Aerospace & Space and Chairman & Managing Director of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE). "The defence industry's innovation engines are MSMEs and start-ups. Their technological prowess and agility can hasten the military's modernisation," he stated. "Collaboration between large public sector enterprises and emerging technology firms is critical to building a robust and self-reliant defence ecosystem," he continued, urging greater cooperation. To improve India's defence manufacturing ecosystem and further the country's transition to strategic autonomy, the summit reaffirmed ICC's dedication to encouraging cooperation between the government, business community, and innovators.
