News Desk, News Nation 360 : Uber Direct, powered by the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network, launched today, marking the company's entry into B2B logistics. In addition, the business announced the launch of metro tickets on the Uber app in the city, which would be available through ONDC. These launches demonstrate Uber's commitment to growing its multi-service offerings across India by leveraging the country's digital public infrastructure to provide simple and connected transportation and commerce solutions to millions of customers. Uber enhances its logistics offering on the ONDC network with Uber Direct, a B2B delivery platform that differs from Uber Courier, which operates for consumers. While Uber Courier operates as a direct offering that consumers access and order through their apps, Uber Direct operates in the background as an engine for businesses, where consumers order from seller apps/websites, and Uber takes care of all deliveries until the customer arrives. Having been rolled out in Bangalore for grocery delivery from brands like Zepto and KPN Farm Fresh using ONDC's open networks, Uber Direct provides businesses with a standardised and scalable plug-and-play logistics solution. Food ordering will roll out soon and cater to worldwide franchises such as KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Indian ones like Rebel Foods. To complement this, Uber's metro ticketing solution on ONDC has also started to gain momentum in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai for easy discovery, planning, and payments in-app, with "Bangalore being a key milestone." Speaking at the launch, Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, stated that Bangalore is a hotbed of innovation, so it makes sense for them to strengthen their partnership with ONDC and address people's and businesses' mobility and logistical needs. The introduction of Metro tickets and Uber Direct in Bangalore lets them bring their vision of allowing people to 'Go anywhere, Get anything' to life, and they are delighted to scale that with ONDC. Uber's continual expansion on the ONDC Network, beginning with Metro ticketing in numerous cities and continuing with the formal debut of Uber Direct, exemplifies the actual potential of interoperable digital commerce. Uber Direct will offer a standardised, plug-and-play logistical layer to businesses, encouraging efficiency and innovation in the B2B area across the network.
