News Desk, News Nation 360: Vedanta Group has initiated a drive across the country under the hashtag #HerAtTheCore, in association with International Women’s Day, celebrated in 2026. The initiative aims to increase its ambition of having women across all levels in its organisation to 35%, compared to its current figure of 23%, with core industries like mining and metals averaging at only 6%. The company, however, is yet to achieve its long-term ambition of having a workforce that is half women. The initiative is part of a hiring drive via LinkedIn, focusing on recruiting engineers, geologists, and data scientists, aimed at fueling India’s growth story in industries like mining, energy, and metals. Chairperson Priya Agarwal Hebbar states, “Technology is a great equaliser. Technology is helping us move our core businesses away from manual labour to cognitive management.” Vedanta is introducing life-stage initiatives, including returnships, flexible working hours, and hiring spouses in remote locations. Vedanta already has operational all-women production lines at its smelter in Jharsuguda, as well as underground mine rescue teams at its Hindustan Zinc operation. The company is also developing world-class integrated townships, showcasing how women play a pivotal role in shaping India’s future, “Viksit Bharat.”
