When he was admitted, he was unconscious. Dr Sinthi Pal, an emergency medicine consultant, was the first to examine him, perform a quick assessment, and start vital life-saving procedures. A multidisciplinary team consisting of Dr Anurup Saha (Neurosurgery), Dr Samit Parua (Critical Care), Dr Soibam Jaya Leima (Plastic Surgery), Dr Penzing Dichen Bhutia (General Surgery), Dr Manoj Agarwal (Ophthalmology), and Dr Pankaj Kumar (Orthopaedics) was quickly incorporated into the patient's care after she was quickly stabilised in the emergency room. A patient named Ravi was brought to the emergency department of Manipal Hospital Siliguri in an unconscious state due to head and facial injuries. He was suffering from continuous bleeding from the nose and mouth. In fact, he required immediate intubation and Critical Care services in the Intensive Care Unit. A team of specialists made use of CT scans and an MRI to determine the extent of head, neck, and facial damage to the brain. He remained under close observation in Critical Care and soon showed improvement due to the collaborative efforts of various departments of the hospital. After stabilisation of his condition, the patient was shifted to the general ward for observation before discharge on January 7, 2026. It is heartening to note in this case the importance of collaborative efforts by the entire medical team for saving the life of the young patient in an emergency. It is clear in this case that the hospital is providing quality trauma and Critical Care services with updated infrastructural support. Presently, Ravi is healthy again after overcoming the life-threatening disease. Speaking about the case, Dr Anurup Saha, Consultant – Neurosurgery, Manipal Hospital Siliguri, stated that a high-impact fall caused the patient to sustain a severe traumatic brain injury. To avoid long-term neurological problems, early airway control, quick imaging, and prompt neurosurgery and critical care intervention were essential. His recovery serves as a reminder of the need for timely trauma care and well-coordinated teamwork.
