A Mass Awareness Program Held With a Plantation Drive and CPR Training Camp

News Desk, News Nation 360: To commemorate World Heart Day 2026 and address India's burgeoning cardiovascular mortality rate (where heart disease now claims nearly 28% of national fatalities, with a disproportionate surge among the younger demographic), an eventful Tree Plantation Festival and CPR Training Camp was held in the Sangha's playground, Kolkata, organised by the Calcutta Cardiology Foundation, Bharat Sevashram Sangha and Kalikapur Aguan Sangha. With the able attendance of esteemed cardiologist Dr. Prakash Kumar Hazra and graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Swami Biswatmanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary, Bharat Sevashram Sangha, the event seamlessly blended spirituality and clinical expertise, beginning with a floral tribute to Sanghaguru Swami Pranabanandaji Maharaj followed by planting saplings of two Bael and five Mahogany trees, namely after the celestial sages of the Saptarshi Mandal, while the hands-on life support workshop conducted by the Dr. Hazra along with the renowned cardiologist Prof. Dr. Sunip Banerjee taught the assembled participants the art of high compression bystander Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to address sudden out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), during which Dr. Arnab Maiti, Dr. Anirban Deb, Dr. S. S. Das, Shri Prabir Dey (Director, Swami Pranabananda Institute of Management & Technology), Mani Sankar Samadder and Mohan Khan all delivered expert clinical addresses, advising a holistic lifestyle and physical activity from a young age, cessation of smoking, and regular monitoring of blood pressure and sugar levels.
