News Desk, News Nation 360: Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, recently organised ‘The Courage Walk – Onco-Gynae Survivor Meet 2026’ on Saturday, gathering cancer survivors, oncologists, and clinicians to celebrate oncological survivorship, self-expression, and resilience beyond treatment. Former Doordarshan anchor and artist Chaitali Dasgupta and renowned dancer Tanusree Shankar graced the event as Chief Guests, with a vibrant celebratory fashion runway seeing survivors take center stage, expressing newfound confidence, as well as clinical discussions helmed by Cluster Director, Mr. Komal Dashora and gynae-oncology team – HOD, Dr. Arunava Roy and Consultant Onco-Surgeons Dr. Neha Agarwal and Dr. Arunashis Mallick – outlining epidemiological realities such as cervical cancer accounting for approximately 79000 new diagnoses in India in 2022 alongside heavy ovarian and endometrial burdens, with Dr. Roy emphasizing the critical importance of timely evaluation of symptoms and multidisciplinary post treatment follow ups, an ethos echoed through deeply personal patient accounts delivered by survivors, including 64-year-old Radha Maitra (who underwent a complex 15 hour cytoreductive surgery and chemotherapy for advanced ovarian malignancy), and 48-year-old Mithu Roy (who successfully recovered from uterine tumor resection).
