Airtel and Google will Build India's First Major AI Hub and Data Centre in Visakhapatnam

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Bharti Airtel has entered into a strategic relationship with Google to establish India's first Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This historic project will expedite AI adoption in India, boost the country's digital infrastructure, and bring Google's whole AI stack and consumer services closer to Indian enterprises. Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel Limited, stated that this relationship with Google is a watershed point in India's digital future. By combining world-class AI infrastructure with the country's exceptional talent and expanding global connections, they are establishing the groundwork for India to become a leader in the AI-driven era. With Visakhapatnam becoming a new AI hub, they are ensuring that India has the chance to set the pace for innovation, digital inclusion, and economic growth—not only for its own people, but for the entire world. Google's AI centre in Visakhapatnam is a milestone $15 billion (USD) investment—the biggest ever by Google in India—over 2026–2030 and comprises gigawatt-scale data centre facilities, a next-generation subsea cable landing site, and an extensive intra- and inter-city fibre infrastructure built together with Airtel and AdaniConneX to fuel sophisticated AI workloads nationwide. The project will provide high-capacity, low-latency connectivity, backed by massive renewable energy sources, and is expected to significantly increase the resilience and capacity of India's digital infrastructure, speeding up transformation in digital services, enterprise AI, and facilitating national digital inclusivity and employment with more than 1,00,000 jobs expected. The campus will be home to Google's bespoke data centre, new international subsea cables, and function as a global connectivity hub, in line with India's Viksit Bharat vision and catalysing economic growth and R&D for the country and the world, and bringing AI-powered innovation to Indian users and businesses.
