News Desk, News Nation 360 : Recently, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals in Kolkata successfully handled a difficult and uncommon paediatric surgical case. A two-year-old girl was referred with a huge congenital laryngeal cyst that was obstructing her airway and posing a serious risk to her life. With a documented incidence of about 1.8 per 100,000 live births, this illness is extremely rare. The effective handling of this case demonstrates the value of skilled surgical planning, collaboration, and cutting-edge medical technology in conquering difficult obstacles. A two-year-old female child was admitted to the hospital with acute respiratory distress, poor feeding, failure to thrive, and intermittent mouth bleeding, and diagnosed with a congenital laryngeal cyst that had developed sufficiently large to completely obstruct her voice box and windpipe, necessitating immediate surgery. She was admitted to Dr. Shantanu Panja, Senior Consultant ENT-Head & Neck Surgery at Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, where the big cyst made normal intubation risky, so the doctors conducted an emergency tracheostomy to establish a temporary airway and stabilise her respiratory system. After securing her airway, the cyst was removed uneventfully with endoscopic coblation technology, and she recovered completely with normal feeding, speech, and no respiratory distress. Her condition stabilised, and she is to be discharged shortly, her successful treatment proving the worth of expertise in specialised care, smooth coordination, and modern surgical methods in rescuing the lives of children suffering from unusual and complicated diseases.
