News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Boiparay Boi Utsab, a literary festival, has started at College Square Ground (Vidyasagar Udyan), from April 1st to 7th, 2025, from 3 pm to 8 pm every day, hosted by the Publishers and Booksellers Guild with assistance from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, inviting book lovers to this historical spot. The fair, comprising about 55 stalls and 70 publishers, exhibits a wide range of Bengali and English books, which was inaugurated by prominent writer Sanjib Chattopadhyay, calling it 'Boi Parbon,' emphasizing the rigorous planning process, along with prominent visitors such as Debashish Kumar, Joy Goswami, Srijato Bandyopadhyay, Subodh Sarkar, Binta Roychowdhury, Suparna Dutta, Tridib Kr. Chatterjee, and Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey. This literary festival, conceived in 2013 at the behest of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, originally titled Nababorsho Boi Utsab and subsequently modified to Basanta Boi Utsab because of weather and timing issues, has taken shape in its present avatar, commemorating the literary heritage of Boi Para, Asia's ancient book district, influenced by the likes of Vidyasagar during the Bengal Renaissance. Sanjib Chattopadhyay, who wrote about 20 lakh books, was a part of the first event, and Councillor Suparna Dutta gave a hearty welcome to all readers to join this mega celebration with the active involvement of College Street publishers, assuring a rewarding experience.
