News Desk, News Nation 360 : At the historic 10th edition of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, defending men's and women's champions Gulveer Singh (10000m) and Sanjivani Jadhav (5000m), respectively, are set to take centre stage at one of the fastest 25K courses in the world on Sunday, December 21. The prestigious 10th edition of Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata has world-class athletes participating in a competition with a prize money of US $142,214. It has equal prizes for both men and women. The first three prizes are INR 3,00,000, INR 2,50,000, and INR 2,00,000, respectively, for the winners. There is also an Event Record Bonus of INR 1,00,000 for the runners. More than 23,000 people registered for this historical occasion. This is the world's first World Athletics Gold Label 25K road race. It shifts the boundaries for distance running in India. World-class athletes are provided with a platform to compete and break records. The women's competition is also keenly fought. This has many thrills for the audience. The defending champion, Sanjivani Jadhav, leads the competition. She is one of the finest long-distance athletes in India. She has won the title twice before. She comes to the competition in a very robust manner. She is very much aware of the course too. She wants to retain the title. The Indian Elites participating in the competition include champions, internationals, first-timers, and experienced ones. They are on the same start list. The competition is expected to have depth, drama, and stiff competition. Leading the men’s field is Gulveer Singh, India’s 10,000m and 5,000m national record holder and the reigning Indian Elite champion at the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, stated that there is no pressure, just a desire to gradually improve upon last year's performance. Beyond records, he is concentrating on developing personally and bringing home medals for the nation. Sanjivani Jadhav stated that she doesn't feel pressure to return to the track as a champion; it's just pure determination. This time, she is competing against herself, and her goal is to set a new record for the event.
