News Desk, News Nation 360: The West Bengal Budget for the fiscal year 2026–2027, which was presented yesterday, June 22, 2026, has received great praise from the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), which describes it as a very practical, balanced, and growth-oriented plan that skilfully blends aggressive industrialisation with grassroots development. The top industry body congratulated Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta on the presentation of their new administration's historic first full budget, noting that the state will experience strong macroeconomic tailwinds as the long-running dispute with the Central Government comes to an end. The ICC enthusiastically applauded the historic decision to digitise land records and re-examine the decades-old Urban Land Ceiling Act (ULCRA), 1976, highlighting long-overdue regulatory reliefs. This move is anticipated to open up large, contiguous land parcels for international investors and greatly improve the ease of doing business. The allocation for a new integrated deep-sea port at Dadanpatrabarh in Purba Medinipur through the public-private partnership (PPP) model, along with upcoming greenfield airports in Purulia, Malda, Cooch Behar, and Kalyani, was highlighted by the Chamber, which also praised the multi-modal logistics and infrastructure push. The West Bengal AI Impact Mission, strong financial incentives for semiconductors, green energy, and textiles, a Rs 100 crore Startup Fund divided between incubation centers and venture capital, and multi-tier agricultural safety nets like minimum support price (MSP) enforcement, crop insurance, and cold storage expansion to revitalise the rural economy were all highlighted by the ICC, which also supported the state's forward-thinking technology and rural focus.
