News Desk. News Nation 360: On June 3, 2026, His Excellency Benedikt Šskuldsson, the Icelandic Ambassador to India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, visited the campus of Sister Nivedita University (SNU). Along with senior university administration, professors, and students, Chancellor Shri Satyam Roychowdhury, Vice-Chancellor Dr Anupam Basu, and Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay cordially welcomed the Ambassador. The envoy interacted closely with the campus community during his visit, learning firsthand about the university's many research initiatives, interdisciplinary courses, and quickly expanding emphasis on global institutional partnerships. Mr. Šskuldsson, who formerly held the position of Iceland's Special Envoy for Climate, provided insightful commentary on environmental challenges around the world, highlighting the

pressing responsibility of the younger generation to promote climate resilience. His visit, which took place right before World Environment Day (June 5), sparked crucial strategic discussions about academic and technical collaboration between the Icelandic Embassy and SNU's interdisciplinary branches, namely the Nivedita Centre of Excellence for Environmental Sustainability (NCEES), the School for Lifelong Learning (SLL), and the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC). The bilateral talks set the stage for future professor and student interactions, knowledge sharing about green technologies, and partnerships in renewable energy research. In order to signify a promising new chapter of cultural and educational ties between Iceland and India, the Ambassador also hosted an interactive session with students to address important questions on diplomacy, international relations, and sustainable innovation. The milestone visit concluded with the exchange of commemorative mementoes.
