News Desk, News Nation 360 : The India Research Tour 2025, one of Springer Nature's most ambitious research outreach efforts in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has arrived in Kolkata. The visit will include discussions with academics, researchers, and students from four of the city's most prestigious institutions: the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, Jadavpur University, the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Kolkata, and Adamas University. The tour, which will take place from October 6 to November 13, 2025, will visit 29 institutions in 15 cities across seven states. Its goals are to advance Open Access and Open Science, strengthen research integrity, encourage e-book adoption, support editorial board member recruitment, and promote research diversity and inclusion. Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, Managing Director, Springer Nature India, stated that Kolkata's institutions have been at the forefront of India's intellectual and scientific development. Engaging with researchers here helps to foster the India Research Tour's ethos of collaboration, integrity, and inclusivity. Their purpose is to provide researchers with access, awareness, and ethical standards that will help expedite India's contribution to world knowledge. Each city and institution they visit contributes to their common goal of a research ecosystem that is open, accountable, and future-ready. The India Research Tour 2025 was officially launched on 6 October at the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Springer Nature. This ambitious tour spans 29 institutions across 15 cities and 7 states, recently arriving in Kolkata after covering Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, and continuing towards Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative promotes Open Access and raises awareness about the One Nation, One Subscription (ONOS) initiative. It also focuses on research integrity, the evolving role of artificial intelligence in publishing, and highlights diversity and inclusion through programs such as Her Research, Our Future and the Research Ambassador Program. The tour supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by democratizing knowledge and improving accessibility. Through workshops, interactions, and dialogues, it encourages researchers to contribute to India’s innovation ecosystem and development goals, building a strong foundation for ethical, inclusive, and impactful research that advances India’s position as a global leader in science and scholarship.
