News Desk, News Nation 360: A high-profile follow-up news conference in Kolkata marked the conclusion of the 7th China–South Asia Cooperation Forum 2026 in Kunming, China, highlighting the increasing strategic significance of bilateral communication between China and India through grassroots regional cooperation and cultural diplomacy. H.E. Xu Wei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, as well as members of the West Bengal cultural delegation who accompanied renowned social entrepreneur and sustainability advocate Dr Chaitali Das, who represented India as a distinguished speaker at the concurrent China–South Asia Think Tank Forum, attended the media briefing. Dr Das spoke to a global gathering of academics, policymakers, and thought leaders on important regional goals like women-led development, eco-tourism, rural revitalisation, and improved people-to-people exchanges after being formally invited by Yunnan Province's Office of Foreign Affairs. An official proposal to create a China–South Asia Oncology sharing Programme to promote medical information sharing, advanced cancer research, and post-treatment psychological rehabilitation for survivors across hospitals in the region was a significant clinical milestone of her speech. By examining the connections between traditional wellness practices like yoga and tai chi, Dr Das also emphasised the shared civilisational heritage of the two countries. He came to the conclusion that mutual prosperity and sustainable development throughout South Asia are best achieved when the neighbouring giants create solid, cooperative bridges in public healthcare, heritage tourism, and green social enterprises.
