News Desk, News Nation 360 : Malabar Gold & Diamonds, the world's fifth largest jewellery store and one of India's leading advocates for corporate social responsibility, has announced the expansion of its signature Hunger Free World campaign to Ethiopia. Following its transformative success in India and Zambia, the initiative is now entering its next phase of expansion across Africa. The Hunger Free World program's expansion is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Goal Partnerships. Ethiopia's project will take a community-centric approach, involving parents, teachers, and local authorities, as well as collaborating with local schools, suppliers, and stakeholders, to create jobs and secure local ownership. M.P. Ahammad, Chairman of Malabar Group, stated that Hunger Free World is one of Malabar Group's most noteworthy ESG projects. As a responsible jeweller, their commitment to the communities they serve extends beyond business. This program has positively touched millions of people's lives, demonstrating its objective of long-term, inclusive growth. In collaboration with the Ethiopian government, they will invest over USD 864,000 over the following two years to provide daily meals to 10,000 students by the end of 2026, as well as infrastructural improvements to support educational success. As part of a recent expansion into Ethiopia with a significant partnership with the Ethiopian government, this program will be able to feed 10,000 children daily by the end of 2026, supported by an investment of over USD 864,000 over two years. Currently, over 115,000 meals are served daily across 119 locations worldwide, which also includes successful operations in Zambia, where over 900,000 meals have already been distributed since May 2024. In addition, the initiative also offers scholarships, mentorship programs, digital literacy, and infrastructure development to enhance excellence in education. The program has been designed in accordance with certain UN Sustainable Development Goals, like Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Partnerships for the Goals, by involving local schools, suppliers, and communities in generating employment opportunities to ensure sustainability. The Vice-Chairman of Malabar, Abdul Salam K.P., and its Chairman, M.P. Ahammad, have asserted that this initiative reflects the DNA of the brand in uplifting communities and ensuring that a tangible difference is made in the lives of children and families globally.
