News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority has granted JSW Infrastructure Limited a Letter of Award for the renovation of Berth 8 and the mechanisation of Berths 7 and 8 at Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Dock. The project's goal is to increase the port's ability to handle containers. It was granted under the PPP model on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis. JSW Infrastructure has won a project in Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, with a concession period of 30 years. The project is in line with their objective to increase their terminal portfolio as part of the port privatisation program of the government. The cost of this project is estimated at ₹740 crore, and it will be constructed in two years. JSW Infrastructure can commence operations while under construction since Kolkata City has stable cargo volumes. Upon completion, the project is anticipated to significantly enhance the capacity of the port as well as the manner in which it functions. The project is a significant part of JSW Infrastructure's strategy to diversify its cargo business through an investment in the container segment. Through this new expansion, the company will bolster its container operations on the eastern and western coasts of India. On the west coast, JSW Infrastructure now owns and operates the New Mangalore Container Terminal, with a capacity of 0.2 million TEUs, and is expanding to 0.35 million TEUs. The Kolkata project would increase the company's total container handling capacity to nearly 1 million TEUs. This makes JSW Infrastructure a rising power in India's port container market.
