News Desk, News Nation 360 : Malabar Group, the holding company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, declared its Educational Scholarships for girl students in East India for the 2024-2025 academic year at an event held at Mahajati Sadan Auditorium in Kolkata, West Bengal, as a major milestone in their flagship CSR initiative, the Malabar Scholarship Programme, aimed at supporting girls' education; the event was launched by Vivek Gupta MLA, Thahsil Ahammed, and Amit Routh, along with other members of the management, customers, well-wishers, and students, and this year, the scholarship scheme in India has provided a budget of ₹16 crore to fund the education of more than 21,000 girl students, with ₹51.26 lakhs specifically provided to benefit more than 165 girls in 5 colleges in East India, including ₹13.90 lakhs given to 165 students from Surah Kanya Vidyalaya, Santoshpur Rishi Aurobinda Balika Vidyapith, Bhowanipore School, Netaji Nagar Day School, and Bashanti Devi College. Ever since it was established, Malabar Group has shown a dedicated commitment to the inclusive growth paradigm through social welfare measures, structuring the same by instituting the Malabar Charitable Trust (MCT) in 1999 and donating 5% of its profits to CSR projects across education, healthcare, environment, and poverty eradication with the focus on empowering the marginalized communities; their premier Malabar National Scholarship Programme instituted in 2007 has donated more than ₹60 crore in support of over 95,000 girl students across India, including over ₹16.82 crore for more than 26,066 girls in Karnataka State, with an aim to empower individuals and communities through girls' education; furthermore, the Hunger-Free World Project serves over 60,000 nutritious meals every day to the needy in 81 cities across 17 Indian states and 10,000 per day to school-going children in Zambia, targeting expansion to serve 100,000 per day from 200 centers in association with Thanal; the Group has also instituted the Grandma Home project, with free lodging for indigent women in Hyderabad and Bengaluru with plans to expand, has set up 581 micro-learning centers across 12 states catering to over 25,800 dropout students, and engaged in other activities like medical assistance, housing assistance, and marriage assistance for poor women, amounting to an overall investment of more than ₹282.29 crore in various social responsibility schemes, evidencing Malabar Group's faith in sustainable growth based on community empowerment and support.
