SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Every life saved starts with a race against time, and ambulance drivers are at the centre of that race, navigating chaos, uncertainty, and haste to provide hope. In the presence of Dr Kishen Goel, Consultant and Head of Emergency at Manipal Hospitals, Kolkata, the organisation held an emotional event called "Salute the Real Heroes Family" to honour these unsung heroes and their families. The purpose of the gathering was to honour the unselfish commitment of ambulance drivers, who are frequently the vital link between life and death while responding to medical emergencies. Manipal Hospitals wanted to thank the drivers and their families for supporting them despite their hectic and erratic schedules. After a cordial greeting and official introduction that set the tone for the day, ambulance drivers and their families were given access to a specifically designed Wellness Plan and Privilege Card. Following that, a felicitation ceremony honoured exceptional drivers for their steadfast dedication and hard work. Additionally, medics from Manipal Hospitals conducted Basic Life Support (BLS) training classes at the event, teaching drivers essential life-saving techniques. Following an educational session on Manipal Hospitals' medical services, which raised awareness of emergency treatment, an ambulance rally was organised, signifying the quickness, readiness, and urgency that characterise a life-saving response. With entertaining family games and enjoyable activities, the day ended on a joyous note, promoting unity and honouring the families that serve as the unseen support system for these front-line heroes. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kishen Goel, stated that every day, ambulance drivers save countless lives by responding quickly and calmly. They are frequently the initial medical contact in emergencies. They hope to acknowledge their effort and reiterate their critical position in the healthcare ecosystem through this project. Over 50% of cardiac arrest patients in India arrive at hospitals late, which has a substantial impact on outcomes. In situations like accidents or cardiac arrest, prompt action can save lives. They are enabling people to act as first responders by offering BLS training. Manipal Hospitals remains committed to developing a trained workforce capable of handling life-threatening situations.
