News Desk, News Nation 360 : Recently, the Indian Express Group and Screen announced the opening of Screen Academy, a ground-breaking non-profit campaign that would support and promote innovative up-and-coming filmmakers in Indian cinema. The Lodha Foundation's Founding Patron, Abhishek Lodha, generously supported the establishment of Screen Academy, which will award postgraduate fellowships each year to students nominated by their film schools who exhibit extraordinary storytelling potential but lack the funds to pursue formal film education. Anant Goenka, Executive Director of The Indian Express Group, who steered the idea of the Academy, stated that the establishment of the Screen Academy is a daring move towards formalising excellence in the fields of culture and entertainment. Through financial assistance and access, they will establish an environment that actively fosters diverse and promising talent in addition to celebrating success. The Academy is expanding fast with multi-talented members, including Cannes and Oscar awardees Guneet Monga, Payal Kapadia, and Resul Pookutty, as well as seasoned screenwriter Anjum Rajabali. In association with India's best film institutions, the Academy will discover and support the future generation of filmmakers. It will do so through education, representation, and identification. The Screen Academy Fellowships 2025 will offer complete financial assistance for postgraduate courses. This assistance will be to top institutions like the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune), Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Kolkata), and Whistling Woods International (Mumbai). The Academy intends to increase its footprint in the country. It will increase the number of film schools in the future. In addition to funding, Screen Academy fellows will get unprecedented industry mentoring. This scheme has India's leading studios and most renowned film professionals as members of the Academy. These professionals will provide masterclasses, internships, and ongoing professional counselling.
