SurTech's New AICTE IDEA Lab Will Encourage Innovation and the Development of Indigenous Technologies

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Sardar Haranjit Singh, Joint Managing Director, JIS Group, officially opened a new AICTE IDEA Lab at the Dr Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Technology & Sports Complex (SurTech), a JIS Group educational initiative at its Kolkata campus. Senior academicians, faculty members, and industry representatives were also present, along with Prof. (Dr.) Saradindu Panda, Principal, SurTech; Prof. Neeraj Saxena, Pro-Chancellor, JIS University; and Prof. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, JIS University. To foster design thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and practical technical abilities in students, the AICTE IDEA (Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship and Augmentation) Lab is intended to be a vibrant innovation hub. Through practical and multidisciplinary learning, the lab helps students turn ideas into prototypes and scalable solutions, which are in line with the national missions of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Made in India. The facility has cutting-edge infrastructure for fabrication and development, including a PCB Design Lab, IoT & Robotics Lab, 3D Printing Lab, and Laser Cutting Lab. Lathes, PCB prototyping systems, CNC and laser cutting equipment, 3D printers, welding systems, and development platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and NodeMCU are all included. The AICTE IDEA Lab's opening demonstrates JIS Group's dedication to entrepreneurship, industry engagement, and innovation-led education by enabling students to become future-ready engineers and job creators. Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group, stated that an important step in their ongoing effort to create an ecosystem where creativity is not only supported but engineered has been taken with the opening of the AICTE IDEA Lab at SurTech. They are fostering a generation of thinkers, innovators, and entrepreneurs who will propel the development of domestic technology and significantly contribute to the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by providing their students with state-of-the-art facilities and chances for experiential learning.
