News Desk, News Nation 360: The first and largest university-based, DGCA-approved Remote Pilot Training Organisation in West Bengal was established on April 16, 2026, when JIS Group opened the JIS Drone Academy-RPTO at its SurTech Campus in Dum Dum, Kolkata. High-ranking representatives from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), C-DAC, and the National Skill Development Corporation attended the academy's opening, which created a full UAV ecosystem for advanced training, certification, and research. The facility incorporates a hybrid learning paradigm with cutting-edge simulation technology and industry partnerships with EduRade and Megh Robotics to offer DGCA-aligned Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) programs for micro and small category drones. The academy offers specialised training in drone surveying, mapping, forensics, and maintenance in addition to basic licensure, with the goal of assisting vital industries including logistics, agriculture, and disaster management. This forward-thinking project, according to Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director of JIS Group, is intended to provide the next generation with future-ready skills, building a strong workforce of certified experts to propel the expansion of the unmanned aviation industry throughout India.
