SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: Due to the constant anatomical and physiological changes in the cardiovascular system from birth to adolescence, regular paediatrician appointments are necessary to monitor for congenital heart defects, valve problems, irregular heart rhythms, or post-repair complications that may arise or only present themselves under increased physical activity. As children are often unable to vocalise tiredness or shortness of breath, it is the responsibility of parents and doctors to observe and note any occurrences of fatigue, fainting, rapid or irregular heartbeats, bluish skin tint, stunted weight gain or growth, or other concerning symptoms that may suggest a cardiac issue, warranting an electrocardiogram or echocardiogram; in addition, cultivating healthy habits from a young age, such as a balanced diet, plenty of exercise, refraining from smoking, and practicing self-management in an age-appropriate manner, promotes long-term wellbeing, reducing risks for disease and ensuring that doctors can provide adequate, timely care and reassurance for the child and their parents.
