The artwork is drawn from the cultural impact of Charlie Chaplin, whose character represented the voices of the subaltern classes by mixing comedy with passive resistance in such a way as to still resonate. The artwork by Shuvaprasanna can be said to pay homage to the visual syntax of Charlie Chaplin by paying attention to such overriding details as the tilt of a head or pause in movement as illustrative of Charlie Chaplin as both an iconic symbol and as representative of the

common person, as reflected in his artworks. Painted using liquid acrylic on canvas, artworks such as this one pay homage to Charlie Chaplin’s energetic character by conflating the eternal symbol of Charlie Chaplin as representative of such eternal themes as playfulness, as well as commentary representative of society’s greater strength in times of weakness. This artwork is drawn from many years of artworks by Shuvaprasanna, which have emphasised social explanations in the artwork. Shuvaprasanna, Artist, stated that what struck him about Chaplin is that his grief never seemed far away, and his laughter never seemed cheap. His work feels more alive than ever as negotiate contradiction and complexity today, and that's what he wanted to investigate on canvas. The exhibition is open to the public from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Kolkata Centre For Creativity from 2nd to 22nd January, 2026.
