SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360 : Bharti Airtel, often known as "Airtel," has reported making great strides in its effort to shield West Bengal's consumers from the growing number of internet scams. Within 41 days of introducing its sophisticated fraud detection system, Airtel has successfully protected over 6.4 million consumers throughout the state as part of the statewide deployment of its AI-powered fraud detection system. Airtel has turned on an advanced, AI-powered system for all its mobile and broadband users, serving as a "statewide digital shield" against cyber attacks. This system checks and filters links from different platforms like SMS, WhatsApp, social media, and email, checking more than 1 billion URLs every day through real-time threat intelligence. For instance, when a user opens a suspicious link, such as "[http://www.tracky0urparcell.com]" in an imposter delivery notification, Airtel's system scans it in real-time. If identified as harmful, access is blocked within 100 milliseconds, and the user is redirected to a "Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!" alert. This real-time blocking keeps users safe from numerous frauds like phishing, imposter deliveries, and bogus bank messages. This program is especially important in West Bengal, one of the most technologically advanced states in India, where online fraud has increased in urban and rural regions. To counter this, Ayan Sarkar, CEO – West Bengal & Odisha, Bharti Airtel, recently sat down with Shri Rathod Amitkumar Bharat, IPS (DIG – Cyber Crime Wing, Government of West Bengal) and discussed digital safety. The system safeguards various users, ranging from families and elderly citizens to students and novice smartphone users. It provides fraud alerts in the user's choice of language, including Bengali, making it extremely effective, particularly in regions with lower digital literacy. This multi-language support is a crucial benefit in protecting West Bengal's population against emerging cyber threats.
