"The Heartbeat Sessions" Are Held in the Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Child Care Centre in New Town

News Desk, News Nation 360: Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Child Care Centre (NBWCCC), New Town witnessed 'The Heart Beat Sessions' on the eve of World Heart Day as its cardiac team narrated the feat of performing three Double Switch Operations (DSO) in a month for kids suffering from 'Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries' (ccTGA), a very rare congenital heart disease which is less than 1% of congenital heart defects. The expert panel comprising of Senior Consultant Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Nilanjan Dutta, Interventional Fetal and Paediatric Cardiologist Dr. Aritra Mukherji, Dr. Sanjiban Ghosh along with cardiac intensivist Dr. Sayandeep Jana, shed light on correcting the anatomical position of the morphological left ventricle which will help the circulation of whole body blood, thus preventing late presentation of malfunction of the systemic right ventricle and other post-operative complications like complete heart block (which has an incidence of 2% per year in ccTGA patients) and future redo surgeries like Senning-Rastelli procedure, besides having performed 252 cardiac surgeries and 477 cath-lab procedures so far by the Institute's department, a record breaking feat of cardiac intervention besides signing up an emotional association with Make-A-Wish India Kolkata Chapter to make wishes come true for kids surviving heart disease in the form of cardiac intensive care, monitoring and early detection of symptoms for the congenital cardiac patients in India.
