JSW Energy Breaks Ground on 1600 MW Ultra Supercritical Thermal Power Plant in Salboni

News Desk, News Nation 360 : In Salboni, West Bengal, JSW Energy Limited, a prominent private-sector power producer in India and a member of the $24 billion JSW Group, started building its cutting-edge 1,600 MW (2x800 MW) ultra supercritical thermal power plant. A foundation stone-laying ceremony for JSW Energy's new power plant project at Salboni, West Bengal, was organised

and graced by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, JSW Foundation Chairperson Sangita Jindal, Parth Jindal, and other government officials. This ₹16,000 crore largest greenfield project of JSW Energy is backed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL). The power plant will consume domestic coal under the SHAKTI B (IV) policy, providing energy security and regional economic prosperity. Strategically important for JSW Energy's Eastern India expansion, the Salboni project is designed to enhance the region's industrial infrastructure and provide thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities with emphasis on skill development and local sourcing so that the Salboni area and its locale can benefit.
