News Desk, News Nation 360 : Through India's oldest radio show, Mahishashuramardini, Birendra Krishna Bhadra's baritone voice has proclaimed Devi Paksha, and Bengalis all over the world are now in countdown mode, eager to immerse themselves in Durga Puja festivities. In the city of Joy, the traditional rhythmic beat of the dhak is prepared to greet Goddess Durga. Every devotee's excitement is put in motion by the dhak's rhythms, which constitute the essence of Durga Puja. A missed heartbeat can be fatal, much as a missed dhak beat can ruin the rhythm of Dhunuchi Nach during Durga Puja. Manipal Hospitals hosted a special CPR training session for Durga Puja's heart and soul, the Dhakis, on this World Heart Day with the theme "Don't Miss a Beat." The function began with CPR training specific to Dhakis, and then came the ceremonial function attended by ace director/actor/producer Shiboprasad Mukherjee, Director of the forthcoming film Raktabeej 2, as the chief guest. The highlight of the day was the Healthy Heart Patient Summit, where the patients narrated inspiring tales of survival and senior cardiologists and cardiac surgeons gave vital inputs on heart health. Inspired by the belief that every individual, regardless of ability or
background, must be enabled to respond during crises, Manipal Hospitals trained more than 1,500 individuals across Kolkata to save lives using CPR skills, taking forward the process of empowering citizens as real-life CPR Heroes. Capitalising on its Guinness World Record-holder status for CPR training in Bengaluru, Manipal Hospitals merged tradition and contemporary healthcare with this endeavour for Dhakis—comparing the dhak initiating the rhythm of Durga Puja to a heart initiating the rhythm of life so that now Dhakis are empowered to respond in emergencies so that nobody misses a beat. Also, for this year, Manipal Hospitals Kolkata introduced a 24x7 telecommunication facility during Durga Puja, providing patients and families with round-the-clock telephone access to doctors, eliminating concerns regarding the availability of medical support during the festive season. While speaking about the minimally invasive procedures performed, Dr Arijit Datta, Senior Consultant - Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Specialist, Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur, stated that thanks to developments in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, they can now use tiny keyhole incisions to replace or repair valves, open blocked arteries, and even fix congenital heart problems. Compared to standard open-heart surgery, these methods enable patients to return to their normal lifestyles considerably sooner by reducing pain, lowering the risk of infection, and enabling a far faster recovery.
