Medica Superspecialty Hospital Highlighted NGOs' Role in Accessible Cancer Care on National Cancer Awareness Day

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Medica Superspecialty Hospital, a top healthcare facility in Kolkata, held an intriguing panel discussion on National Cancer Awareness Day with the theme "Focussing on the important role of NGOs in making modern cancer treatment more accessible to economically disadvantaged patients in private healthcare facilities." Prof. (Dr.) Subir Ganguly, Senior Consultant and Advisor in Radiation Oncology chaired the conversation, which included panellists from respectable NGOs including Rotary, Fight Cancer, Cancer Fight Foundation, Jadavpur Pension Association, Gauri Bari Welfare, Cankids, and Dinante. During the conversation,

some of the cancer survivors were also in attendance. During the discussion, Prof. (Dr.) Subir Ganguly remarked that NGOs play a crucial role in making cancer treatment more accessible and affordable for people from lower economic backgrounds. By providing financial assistance, collaborating with hospitals for discounted treatments, and offering free screenings, NGOs help bridge the gap in healthcare access. They also contribute to cancer prevention through awareness campaigns and provide essential support services like counselling, nutrition advice, and transportation assistance to patients. Medica, recognizing the importance of these partnerships, collaborates with NGOs to make cancer care more affordable for patients in need. The hospital aims to expand these collaborations in the future to further benefit patients. The subject for this year's National Cancer Awareness Day, "Prevention, Early Detection and Treatment," highlights the importance of being vigilant to spot early warning signs and provide easily available care. Financial obstacles frequently keep many people from getting cancer treatment. And NGOs are essential in closing this gap. In collaboration with private medical facilities, these groups assist patients in receiving the necessary medical care. Typically, they cover or encourage medical costs.
