Ruby General Hospital Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of its Founding

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Recently, Ruby General Hospital will commemorate its 30th anniversary. Hon'ble Chief Minister Jyoti Basu officially opened the hospital on April 25, 1995, making it the first NRI hospital in Eastern India. On October 27, 1995, Mother Teresa officially opened the Mother Teresa Ward and the Cardiac Surgery Unit. By 2025, it will have 500 beds and a cancer centre, according to Dr. Kamal K. Dutta, the founder and chairman. On its 30th anniversary, Ruby Cancer Centre, a cutting-edge centre in Eastern India, marked the launch of its second Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy machine (Version 3.0), renowned for its sophisticated mapping and planning systems for targeted cancer treatment. The launch was graced by Chief Guest Sister Michael of the Missionaries of Charity, Vivek Maharaj of Adyapeath Dakshineswar, and Ruby Dutta. Moreover, Ruby Hospital also announced the arrival of Kolkata's first Digital PET Scan in June 2025, which will reduce scan time from 30 minutes to 5 minutes, decrease patients' radiation dose by one-third, and improve picture clarity. These two machines, Varian TrueBeam and the Digital PET CT, are likely to make Ruby Cancer Centre the best cancer care centre in Eastern India. Ruby Hospital has been rated among the top 50 best hospitals in India by Newsweek Magazine for five years running

(2021-2025) for achieving its mission of delivering quality, affordable care. It also introduced a free Mental Wellness Clinic, accessible through the Ruby 24x7 Mobile App, providing psychological consultation to all ages and segments. Also under the 30th-anniversary programs, Ruby Hospital will offer biannual health check-ups and emergency medical/surgical care to 850 poor and orphan children from the Adyapeath Ashram and will partner closely with Missionaries of Charity to have daily cancer screening sessions at their many homes for detection and prevention of cancer in the early stages. The hospital also decided to carry out 30,000 preventive checks for Diabetes and Hypertension via 'Be Healthy' kiosks in their outpatient department. These year-long initiatives are meant to contribute valuable efforts towards the welfare of society as part of their significant 30th-anniversary milestone.
