Lake Club Kick-Starts 7th Edition Of Natyamela, 2023

News Desk, News Nation 360: Lake Club is all set for the 7th edition of Natyamela which will celebrate the rich culture of Bengal’s legacy of Drama and Art. On the inaugural day of the festival a panel discussion titled 'Habib Ekai Eksho' was organised to mark the birth centenary of the eminent theatre personality, poet and actor, Late Habib Tanvir. A calendar of paintings by artist Hiran Mitra on Tanvir's plays and stage decor was also published. Renowned theatre personalities, Nagin Tanvir (Daughter of Lt. Habib Tanvir), Rudraprasad Sengupta, Shamik Banerjee, Hiran Mitra, Arun Mukhopadhyay, Jayati Bose, Ramchandra

Singh, Ashok Mukhopadhyay, Meghnad Bhattacharya, Suman Mukhopadhyay took part in the discussion. Debabrata Datta, Joint Honorary Secretary, Lake Club stated that their journey of organising ‘Natyamela’ began way back in 2015. They were unable to host Natyamela over the last two years due to the ongoing pandemic. They are glad to announce the launch of the 7th Edition of Natyamela in 2023 for the theatre lovers of Kolkata and the region. Their idea behind this theatre festival is to touch the lives of people with hope and positivity. It is a celebration of the combination of thought-provoking contemporary art and drama. They will commence this year’s festival with Lt. Habib Tanvir’s iconic theatre production, ‘Charandas Chor’. It will be staged by Tanvir’s own theatre group, Naya Theatre. The festival will be on from 3rd January - 8th January 2023 at Lake Club, Kolkata from 7 pm. This year Hatibagan Sangharam’s Ekta Diblu Dilu Timtu Tilu Dub, Noye Notua's - Borda Borda, Onno Theatre’s Pratham Rajnoitik Hatya, Sanskriti’s Sher Afghan, Chakdaha Natyajan’s Barricade and Mukhomukhi’s Typist will also be staged in the Natyamela.
