​Journalism Awards Committee announced the Ninth edition of Journalism Awards 2023

News Desk, News Nation 360:  The ninth edition of “Journalism Awards” is announced by the Journalism Awards Committee. The awards aim to recognize the outstanding work of journalists who have made a significant contribution to the field of journalism. The Journalism Awards 2023 will be open to all West Bengal-based journalists who have worked in the industry for at least one year, with categories for print, broadcast, and online journalism. The awards will recognize excellence in reporting, investigative journalism, opinion writing, feature writing and photography among other categories. This year Journalism Awards Committee would comprise eminent journalists like Mr Chittaranjan Biswas, veteran Sports Journalist of Anandabazar Patrika, Mr Abhijit Dasgupta, former Director, Doordarshan, Mr Buroshiva Dasgupta, Ex-resident editor of The Financial Express and Mr Subrata Nag Choudhury, former Resident Editor, Indian Express. Apart from honouring the journalists, the committee believes in recognizing the works of the unsung heroes of society. In future, this committee plans to diverge into some social activities to help the financially deprived and backward journalists. To be eligible, the news material must be published from 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022. A Panel of eminent judges chosen by the Jury Members of the ‘Journalism Awards Committee’ will further screen the entries to choose the winner from each category. The number of award categories is 21. The categories are Business, District Reporting, Electronic Media – Reporting, Electronic Media - Cameraman, General News (Bengali, English, Hindi and Urdu), Feature (Bengali, English, Hindi and Urdu), Lifestyle & Cinema (Bengali and English), Print Media Photography-Lifestyle, Print Media Photography-Sports, Print Media Photography-Feature, Print Media Photography-News, Sports (Bengali and English) and Bloggers Award. The nominations can be sent to candid.journalism@gmail.com and the hard copy can be submitted at Candid Communication, Unit 1207- Merlin Infinite, 12th Floor, DN-51 Sector V Salt Lake, Kolkata 700091. Nominations will start immediately post announcement. The last date for filing the nominations would be 30th June’23. The final award ceremony would be held on August’23, the date of the award ceremony would be announced soon. Sayantan Das Adhikari, Director, of Candid Communication stated that they are thrilled to announce the launch of the Journalism Awards 2023. They couldn’t organise the award during and the post covid year. Journalism is a vital part of a democratic society and it is essential to recognize and encourage outstanding journalism. The awards will provide a platform for journalists to showcase their work and will help to raise awareness of the important role that journalism plays in society.
