News Desk, News Nation 360: The illustrious 158th year of Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta, is marked by the most awaited event of the Institute- Student’s Annual Exhibition “Parampara” 2022-23, which was inaugurated on the evening of 25th December 2022. The exhibition showcases the best artworks, done by students of the institute, cutting across diverse streams/disciplines, that the institute offers as its courses. The persistent effort of Principal Prof. Chhatrapati Dutta, the student’s union, exhibition coordinators, students, teachers and staff members have consolidated in the making of this exhibition. This year, on the evening of 25th December, the exhibition was inaugurated by renowned artist and educationist Shri Jogen Chowdhury in the august presence of Chief Guests, Shri Pradip Bothra and Shri Prashant Tulsyan. Holding credit of a long legacy of creative excellence, in the field of art education, many of the great art stalwarts, that the nation has seen, are associated with this esteemed Institution. Throughout its long glorious history of 158 years, the Institute has produced many noted alumni including names like Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Atul Bose, Jainul Abedin, Hemendranath Majumdar, Ganesh Pyne, Dhirendranath Brahma, Ganesh Haloi, Sakti Burman, Jogen Chowdhury and many more. For the students, this annual exhibition holds prime importance, as the event provides an opportunity for both appreciation and critical responses, from art connoisseurs, art lovers and everyday viewers. The exhibition is curated throughout several studios and classrooms, showcasing enthusiastic works done by the students. Artworks from diverse streams like Painting, Painting (Indian Style), Modelling & Sculpture, Graphic Design/Applied Art, Textile Design, Ceramic Art & Pottery, Design: Wood & Leather and Printmaking are on display. The exhibition is held at the college campus and is located in the vicinity of Chowringhee, the exhibition appears as one of the prime attractions not only for art connoisseurs but also for everyday visitors, providing the public with a chance to experience the visual extravaganza of this creative and intellectual process. The exhibition will remain open till 02 January 2023, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the college premises.
