News Desk, News Nation 360: To mark the occasion of World Environment Day, Siddha Group in association with non-profit organizations Mrittika Earthy Talks & Harimitti organized a plantation drive for the Siddha Elite customers. To kickstart the initiative, saplings were planted by Debashis Sen, Chairman, New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), Swapna Burman, Indian Heptathlete & Arjuna Awardee, Dr Swati Nandi Chakraborty, Environmental Scientist, Environment Consultant at Cantonment Board (Government of India) and Aadish Jain, Director, Siddha Group. Each sapling will be provided by Mrittika Earthy Talks and Harimitti. The NGOs will maintain them for a period of 2 years till they become trees. Each customer can adopt their own tree with their respective name. Mango, Neem, Jackfruit, Arjun & Sal saplings were planted. Siddha Group had pledged to plant 50,000 saplings which they have already achieved to date. Saplings were also planted around schools, old age homes, orphanages and churches in West Bengal. The efforts have been acknowledged and appreciated by the ‘Earth Day Network’ (India Chapter). Siddha Group had organized a tree plantation drive in a few of their properties to do its part in raising awareness against the cause of the Amazon forest fire outbreak as well, for which around 200 trees and 26,000 shrubs were planted. Aadish Jain, Director, of Siddha Group stated that this is their extension of the ‘Be Selfish’ campaign which they had coined to initiate environment awareness activities. They had taken an oath to plant 50000 trees and have already achieved that by planting trees at various parts of the state; especially their large-scale plantation drive with the Army around Race Course and at Park Street extension just after Red Road, which had been highly successful. This initiative is a continuation of their united effort to withstand climate change and help in creating a cleaner and greener environment.
