News Desk, News Nation 360: India’s people-to-people ties with Bangladesh are one of the most engaging in the subcontinent. This is seen through the growing number of Border Haats being established between the borders of India-Bangladesh, as well as the number of Bangladeshi nationals that visit India every year. Prior to COVID-19, in 2019, more than 16 lakh visas to Bangladeshi citizens were issued. Even at the peak of COVID-19, in 2021, under lockdown, India issued close to 2 lakh medical visas for Bangladeshi nationals. Looking at the growing number of visas issued by Indian authorities to the people of Bangladesh, India inaugurated a new Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) at Kushtia. This became the 16th IVAC in Bangladesh and was inaugurated by India’s High Commissioner Pranay Verma. HC Pranay Verma underlined efforts being made to constantly improve visa facilities for the people of Bangladesh and highlighted recent steps taken by the High Commission to facilitate smoother visa services for the citizens of Bangladesh.
