ILS Hospitals Howrah Hosted Walkathon 2023 – A Walk To Drive Out Diabetes

News Desk, News Nation 360: ILS Hospitals, Howrah organized Walkathon 2023 – a Walk to Drive out Diabetes to commemorate World Diabetes Day. The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of more than 500 participants, all determined to take strides towards a healthier future. The Walkathon was flagged off by Mr Debashis Dhar, Group Vice President of Business Development at ILS Hospitals and Dr Mahua Golder, ILS Hospitals, Howrah. The walk commenced from ILS Hospitals, Howrah, and charted a course through prominent locales including Salkia Flyover, Howrah Station Road, and Salkia School Road, before returning to ILS Hospitals. Each participant carried a digital candle, symbolizing the collective commitment to dispelling the shadows of diabetes. Additionally, placards highlighting different facets of diabetes were brandished by participants, further amplifying the message of awareness  and  prevention.  Debashis  Dhar,  Group  Vice  President  of

​Business Development at ILS Hospitals stated that in line with this year's theme of 'Empowering Global Health', they have organized Walkathon 2023 - A Walk To Drive Out Diabetes to emphasize the significance of addressing diabetes in the society. Managing diabetes requires lifelong care, and the support of family plays a pivotal role in ensuring a healthy and fulfilling life. Through this walk they are also acknowledging them and their contributions to fight this menace, According to Dr Mahua Golder, ILS Hospitals, Howrah, in the present day, individuals are increasingly susceptible to developing diabetes, even in the absence of a family history, due to sedentary lifestyles. This condition can lead to severe complications including kidney failure, vision impairment, and even limb loss. Prioritising a balanced diet, regular exercise, and adopting healthier lifestyle choices can significantly reduce the risk of developing diabetes.
